Overall Purpose: Responsible for the overall reliability and operations of AT&T’s IPAG network through trouble and change management within a 24X7 organization. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Provide technical support and troubleshoot network issues, triage and communicate event status and coordinate root cause analysis. Solves Tier 2 issues independently and works with additional support teams and vendors as needed. Supports the IPAG, VPLS, and MetroE network through alarm and ticket systems, change management systems, software and equipment upgrades, individual designed customized scripts, customer notifications, and business partner escalations. Provides real time in-depth analysis and trouble resolution of incidents associated with the Juniper, Cisco, and associated Operations Support Systems and Data Communications Network Technology platforms. Provides tech troubleshooting and leadership to recover from the most complex network problems. May lead cross-functional teams on specific issues and/or projects. Shift Work Requirements: 24x7 work environment – willing and able to work all shifts, including weekends, nights, and holiday. Key Competencies and Skills – Education and Qualifications: • Understanding of Layer Two Switching concepts, VLAN configuration and troubleshooting, IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet Standard, TCP/IP, and working knowledge with Juniper and Cisco switch and router platforms. • Excellent communication and teamwork to perform complex assignments, troubleshoot and maintain the network, and communicate and coordinate with internal and external teams. • Ability to analyze Layer 1 circuit/networking issues and routing problems with an overall understanding of Ethernet transport principles. • Requires operations and networking background and technical background in data communications, switches, and routers. • Education: Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science, Engineering, Computer Sciences or Operations. • Certifications: Preferred CCNA, JNCIS, or CompTIA Network+ • Experience: 3-5 years in a network operations environment.
