$2,000 Sign On BonusPOSITION SUMMARY: The Teacher plans and implements an educational program designed for parents and guardians to meet the individual social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of class participants including but not limited to how to use positive discipline, improve child-rearing attitudes and skills, and set age-appropriate expectations through center-based education.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepare educational materials required to implement curriculum in daily activity plan including but not limited to specific topics for parenting education (e.g., safety, nutrition, child development, discipline, bonding)Maintain an orderly physical environment conducive to optimal growth and development of children using educational best practices and best principlesWrite periodic parental progress reports for submission to Philadelphia Department of Human Services (DHS)Prepare and periodically update lesson plans and/or list of age-appropriate activities including but not limited to parent-child interaction lessons/activities to be posted in the classroomTeach parents of the children in the classroom about their child's developmental level by explaining what their children do well, and train parents to support the child in a safe and nurturing environment which will reduce the risk of abuse or neglect of young children in families that are in stressful situationsPlan activities and organize materials that enable parents to understand and work on their child's developmental goals including but not limited to how to use positive discipline, set age-appropriate expectations, and age-appropriate play activitiesRole model appropriate behavior for parents, assistants, and volunteers including but not limited to interacting with peers, communicating with others, appropriate parent/child interactions for play and assisting child with age-appropriate tasks, as well as providing appropriate mental and physical stimulation, discipline, and structureConduct developmental screenings using standardized assessments for each child and develop goals based on the child's level of performanceSupervise personnel and volunteers assigned to assist with daily group activitiesPerform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) using agency-trained protocolsChange diapers and monitor toileting using universal precautionsPerform other duties as assignedIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Program DirectorDIRECT REPORTS: Teacher AideCONTACTS: Staff, parents, participantsEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child development, or related discipline, or equivalent experienceOne (1) year experience in parent education/training and child developmentTwo (2) years' experience teaching and/or working with young children developing, planning and implementing a classroom curriculumAbility to screen children for developmental delays using agency-provided toolsNon-profit human service experience highly preferredDemonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a teamAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, prioritiesDemonstrated strong attention to detailDemonstrated strong time management and organizational skillsDemonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervisionDemonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actionsMust be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocolsMust possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL PROFILE: See Physical Demand Checklist below which represents the general physical demands and environment conditions to which the employee holding this position must meet, in addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
