  Senior Tax Manager – Federal Income Taxes

  POSITION SUMMARY

  The Senior Tax Manager will lead the federal (domestic) income tax compliance process and manage preparation of information document request responses for the IRS. This role will also support the US tax provision process and assist with the review of state income tax returns.

  This role reports to the Director of Domestic Tax Reporting & Compliance.

  DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  Lead all aspects of the consolidated federal tax return compliance process and applicable disclosures.

  Review certain aspects of the quarterly and year-end domestic tax provision (ASC 740).

  Oversee preparation of information document request responses for the IRS audit.

  Coordinate quarterly estimate and extension calculations and payments.

  Provide required information for forecast and budget activities.

  Assist with the Pillar Two calculations for the US.

  Model the federal tax impacts of new legislation or other planning projects.

  Participate in review of state and local income and franchise tax returns and state tax audits.

  Research technical issues and collaborate on special projects.

  Perform thorough review of delegated work, analyze processes, and implement improvements.

  Manage, mentor, and develop staff including establishing goals, delegating assignments, and providing timely feedback.

  REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  7+ years of progressive tax experience with public accounting firm and/or large corporate tax department

  Experience preparing and reviewing large, consolidated federal tax returns

  Working knowledge of ASC 740

  Strong leadership and team management skills

  Ability to manage projects and drive them to completion

  Effective communication skills (verbal and written)

  Advanced Excel skills

  Working knowledge of Alteryx

  Corptax experience preferred

  Workday experience preferred

  Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, Advanced Degree preferred (MST or JD)

  CPA preferred

  Location

  Hybrid (Chicago) or Remote

  The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $140,000 - 180,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant’s geographic location.

  The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

  This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon’s annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
