Role Overview:
Ankura is looking for a remote based Senior Associate to join our ambitious and growing business with ample development opportunities. This role will assist with technical accounting, play a critical role in day-to-day accounting activities, month-end close, revenue reporting, contract review, financial reporting processes and the presentation of financial results. While this role is remote based the majority of the time, the role will require occasional in office days at our Gurugram, India location.
Responsibilities:
Work cross-functionally with GL team, Revenue team, Contracts, FP&A, AR, AP, and various business owners on policies, processes, and help drive key system initiatives and improvements
Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision and related footnotes (ASC 740).
Assist in responding to tax notices from various tax jurisdictions.
Support tax audits by gathering information and responding to information requests.
Research relevant literature on a variety of tax topics and develop tax planning strategies as well as tax positions.
Prepare reports for outside providers to prepare sales and use tax returns.
Prepare workpapers and reports for outside providers to prepare federal, state, and international tax returns and estimates.
Assist with tax accruals for income and sales tax.
Participate in cross-functional and ad-hoc projects with various teams including FP&A, contracts, and billing.
Prepare apportionment workpapers on a quarterly basis.
Help develop tax-efficient strategies utilizing deductions and credits to optimize our financial position.
Coordinate with other departments to gather information for filing various returns.
Participate in day-to-day accounting tasks and play an active role in the month-end close process.
Prepare/review audit schedules and workpaper documents, address auditor questions and escalate issues as needed.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate matters effectively with all levels of staff.
Willing to learn about different tax topics and implement knowledge as necessary.
Builds exceptional relationships with employees and business groups.
Qualifications:
BA/BS in Accounting
6-8 years work experience, 2-3 years of experience in public accounting
Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and tax concepts including US tax forms 1065 and 1120
Technical accounting research experience
Excellent analytical and technical skills
Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel using pivot tables, x-lookups, and formulas in working with large amounts of transactional data
Experience with Workday Power Pivot, Power BI, or Alteryx is a plus
Self-motivated and self-managed - able to think independently, creatively, and opportunistically
Workday experience desired
