Job Description
We are seeking a Systems Engineer Lead experienced in providing technical leadership to join our team in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) Information Directorate in Rome, NY. Our team is responsible for full Software/Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) support of C4I and Cyber software/systems developed and sustained by AFRL. This position requires a broad range of technical knowledge, skills and experience, from an understanding of the system and its capabilities to team leadership and highly effective communications.
Requirements include:Understand how the core system and related mission applications interact, common DoD/IC data types and data flows, as well as the associated use cases/CONOPsProvide full systems engineering lifecycle support for the ISSE PMO to include leadership of special/ advanced projects team and initiativesAct as the main liaison to the Government Program Manager and Chief Engineer identifying and understanding program objectives and priorities, and leading the team in their achievementSupport the BAE Program Manager in overall exceptional performance to meet contract requirements Manage resourcing of the program staff, facilitate interaction among the team and make recommendations for the approval of team travel and laborSupport the development and maintenance of system architecture, key capabilities, performance requirements, and operational conceptsEvaluate and track new requirements through the full software development lifecycleConduct evaluations to assess relevant emerging new technologies and maintain awareness of the latest technologies applicable to cross domain operationsEvaluate potential impacts of new security policies on existing and upcoming software baselinesAssist in the definition and documentation of cross domain systems and softwareOversee and define design and technology maturity constraints of the system in accordance with DOD customer specificationsProvide systems engineering expertise at program reviews and technical interchange meetings
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
BS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with 15 years relevant experience OR MS in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with 10 years relevant experienceExperience supporting Government (preferably DoD) processes, organizations and CONOPSSecurity+ CertificationUnderstanding of modern scalable software architectures and methodsDemonstrated understanding of software lifecycle managementAbility to effectively interface with all levels of management and technical personnelAbility to read and understand networking protocols, services and architecturesProven leadership experienceExcellent communication and customer-relations skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
CISSP, CISSP-ISSEP or CISSP-ISSMP certificationOperational Air Force experience desiredAbility to break down technical concepts into business termsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with focus on root cause identificationExpert understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the fieldFamiliarity with current cross-domain technologiesKnowledge of NSA Raise The Bar and NIST 800-53 requirementsSoftware development background and experience with Agile Scrum/SAFe practicesComputer hardware knowledge and experience
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $111700 - $189900
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
