The Surgical Technologist will work directly with the surgeon and the circulating registered nurse. The position's duties are highly variable, so the successful candidate must be willing to change direction at a moment's notice and keep pace with the other OR professionals on staff.Responsibilities:Secure and prepare all supplies required for surgical interventionEnsure the preparation and maintenance of the sterile fieldPerform instrument counts prior to each procedurePerform scrub functionsCollect and label specimens taken during surgical procedureFollow all federal, state and departmental safety proceduresDuties may also include functioning in the OR core and turning over roomsThis is a Night shift role, 0.9 FTE, 12 hour shifts, and qualifies for a Night Shift DifferentialPerioperative Services at Seattle Children's Hospital consists of 14 OR suites. We provide care to newborns-adults in the following services: Cardiovascular, Neurosurgery, Robotics, Plastics, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Urology, General Surgery, Gynecology, Dental/Oral, Orthopedics including Complex Spine, Transplant, Dermatology and Ortho-oncology.In accordance with House Bill 1155 (effective January 1, 2020), the following areas have clinical unpredictable needs and as a result will have a call obligation within their nursing positions: Apheresis, Cardiac Cath Lab, Dialysis, ECMO, Home Care Services, Imaging Services (including GI Procedures), Perioperative Services, and Transplant Coordinators.Technicians who specialize in the operating room, assisting the surgeons as scrub techs. Their duties may also include functioning as a UST and in the OR core.RequirementsRequired Education/Experience: - Graduation from a Surgical Technologist Program OR applicable military surgical technologist course of study. Required Credentials: - Current Washington state registration as a surgical technologist. - BLS for Healthcare Providers.
