JOB REQUIREMENTS: ***\$2,500 SIGN ON BONUS ELIGIBLE*** TheSurgical Technologist provides technical assistance to the physicianduring surgical and diagnostic procedures for adult and pediatricpatients. Our specialties include General Surgery, Gastroenterology,Orthopedics, Gynecology, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Urology &Podiatry. Duties include: Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge ofsurgical procedures and instrumentation. Selects instruments, equipmentand supplies for each surgical procedure. Prepares room for procedure bysetting up sterile tables and checking equipment and supplies. Scrubsfor surgical procedures: helping the surgeon with prepping and drapingpatients, passing sterile instruments and supplies, and assisting withthe surgical procedures, as appropriate. Understands and follows theprinciples of sterile technique and takes steps to remedy breaks insterile technique when observed. Identifies specimen before passing offthe field and transports specimens to Pathology, as directed. Operatesspecified O.R. equipment in the manner in which they have been trainedto use it. Assists RN with circulating duties, as delegated. Assistswith transfer of patients into or out of operating room. Cleans rooms,instruments, and equipment appropriately. Identifies and reportsinstruments and equipment in need of maintenance. Assists in teachingscrub role responsibilities to residents, nurses, and surgicaltechnologist students. Supports operating room team as needed. Keeps upto date on new procedures and equipment and communicate changes to otherstaff. Performs all responsibilities/duties required, as defined in thescope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the client isaddressed. Work Schedule: .8 FTE/32 hours per week. Monday - Friday from7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with call expectations of 1 day per week (or perdepartment needs), every 6th weekend rotation and holiday rotation.Required Qualifications: Completion of Surgical Technologist programfrom an accredited institution, applicable military training, 2 years\'experience as a surgical technologist, or an approved equivalentcombination of training and experience. Preferred Qualifications: CSTCertification by the National Board of Surgical Technology and SurgicalAssisting (NBSTSA). Experience in EPIC computer system.
