Plans, Organizes, directs and evaluates care for patients having surgical intervention following the directives of the professional and regulatory bodies. Delegates tasks to other levels of care providers within the surgery department. Possess and demonstrate skills in physical assessment, patient care and discharge planning, delivery of patient care, decision making, patient-family teaching, planning and organizing care using sound time management skills. Assumes responsibility for utilizing the nursing process in evaluating total patient care needs and utilizing appropriate resources to meet those needs. Assumes responsibility for reporting and documenting pertinent information relating to the patient s discharge plan. Will work in all perioperative phases of care, Pre-op, PACU, Circulating Nurse. Surgery Tech (RN Scrub): RNs may be asked to train into the surgical scrub role. Has an understanding of procedures and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. Has knowledge of sterilization and disinfection. Cleans and prepare instruments for disinfection and/or terminal sterilization according to recommended practices
