(HELP) PROGRAM: This is a temporary program in which a perspective candidate may hold a position normally requiring an examination for 1 (one) year. At the conclusion of the 1 (one) year the incumbent would be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive examination.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative Only) Comprehends, understands and utilizes child support regulation and laws; Interviews clients to obtain information to assess and ensure a basis for paternity establishment and/or a support order; Is responsible for a full case load from intake, maintenance, enforcement and collection; Reviews Public Assistance, Medicaid, and Foster Care referrals to evaluate the situation for required action and interfaces with these Social Services Departments to take appropriate action in securing child support; etc.

Qualifications: A. Possession of a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Business Administration, Human Services or Social Science; OR B. Possession of an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Human Services or Social Science AND two (2) years of investigative experience; OR C. Graduation from High School plus four (4) years of investigative experience; OR D. Four (4) years of satisfactory service as a Clerk, Typist, or Staff Resources Assistant employee where accounting experience or similar duties were performed.
Special Requirements: Must be bondable and subjected to a fingerprint check and an extensive background investigation. Possession of a valid NY State Driver's License is required and must be maintained throughout employment.
Residency: Candidates must have been legal residents of Seneca County or one of the six contiguous counties (Cayuga, Ontario, Schuyler, Tompkins, Wayne or Yates) for one month preceding the date of application.
