About SUPERVISORY HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY)

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as first level supervisor providing specialized knowledge and expertise in planning, directing, and executing the functional responsibilities and procedures for the Career Development Element of the Military Personnel Flight (MPF) supporting numerous Major Commands (MAJCOMs) and more. Responsibilities Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time. Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the organization. Represents the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Represents the Military Personnel Section with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Prepares and delivers oral presentations such as briefings, training sessions, consultations, and strategy sessions with other staff service functions and activities to secure cooperation, resolve controversial matters, and convey information relative to proposed changes in assignments. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, administrative and management positions. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least at least 3 years of general experience, of which at least 1 year of experience is equivalent to at least the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-04) which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Such experience would involve providing support in military human resources programs such as personnel assignment system, benefits and entitlements, retention, incentives, training, promotions, Officer and Enlisted performance reports, military awards and decorations, Line-of-duty reports, casualty reporting system, deployment planning and execution, and officer appointment program. OR EDUCATION: 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of military personnel regulations, practices, and policies. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education ARE YOU USING YOUR EDUCATION TO QUALIFY? You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
