Summary THIS ANNOUNCEMENT HAS BEEN AMENDED TO UPDATE THE DUTIES AS OF 01/29/2024 About the Position: This position is located at the South Florida Operations Office of the Jacksonville District in Clewiston, Florida. Clewiston, historically known as America's Sweetest Town, was incorporated in 1925 and occupies 4.57 square miles. Clewiston is centrally located in south Florida about 60 miles east of Fort Myers on the Gulf of Mexico and 60 miles west of Palm Beach on the Atlantic Ocean. Responsibilities Serves as technical source of expertise in the repair and maintenance of navigation structures and flood control structures as well as in the operation, maintenance of the land, floating plants utilized in repair and maintenance of those structures. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and directs in collaboration with other supervisors on major maintenance of a variety of facilities and equipment; the locks and dams and appurtenant navigation structures located throughout South Florida. Personally, and through subordinate staff, manages the assigned plant and facilities utilized in repair and maintenance operations. Consults with supervisor to discuss program status and participates in formulation of major policies and procedures; keeps supervisor advised on highly controversial problems or matters of far-reaching impact and advises of significant actions. Studies maintenance procedures and schedules to improve the preventive maintenance of the structures and confers with subordinate supervisors and facility staff to propose unified plans of improvement to Operations Managers. Develops work plans, specifications, conceptual designs, and government cost estimates. This includes operation and maintenance activities for flood control structures. Performs the full range of supervisory and management functions over branch personnel to ensure an efficient and effective operation.
