PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: Leadership accountability for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity and financial metrics Handle 3rd party utility crossing process, including the review of engineering plans and specifications provided by third party consultants and contractors wishing to construct utilities across or parallel to Company right of way to ensure installations meet Company and industry standards Arrange and coordinate railroad flagging protection for third parties entering company property to ensure the safety of railroad operations and the third party Provide technical support to Engineering, Business Development and Real Estate departments, as well as third party consultants and construction companies POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Handle 3rd party utility application process, including coordination with multiple internal stakeholders (Engineering, S&C, Real Estate, Legal, Risk) Provide engineering and constructability reviews of all 3rd party utility crossing applications and ensure utility plans meet CPKC and AREMA standards, and do not impact CPKC operations Prepare and execute all utility crossing license agreements Coordinate construction and railroad flagging for all utility installations Coordinate access and flagging for 3rd party work projects adjacent or on CPKC right of way Review 3rd party work plans to ensure no impact to CPKC operations Coordinate access agreements for all 3rd party work Maintain and update the FRA grade crossing database POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 5 or more years of railroad experience Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues Must be highly motivated individual who is comfortable working independently in an unstructured, multi-disciplinary team atmosphere Effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) Ensures that safety is a priority in the design and construction of all projects Travel requirement over the territory to inspect sites and meet with municipal and regulatory authorities, and internal stakeholders can be up to 50%. Management Conductor Program: Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
