Overview and Essential Functions
Primary responsibilities include ability to splice/test/repair cables/wires in both indoor and outdoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing diagrams, maintain activities surrounding the assigned work site(s), and taking splicing field notes to transfer to readable as-built for customer.
What you’ll do…
Responsible for performing field inspections of cable/fiber/coax placement, splicing and construction work.
Assist in building out/upgrading both underground and aerial aspects of the network
Conduct pre-survey of construction packages
Read and interpret CATV construction drawings and blueprints
Track daily production for crew and achieve schedule demands at all times
Completes walk-through with foreman and customer
Keep the Project Manager and customer updated on progress of project
Evaluate crew member’s performance and provide coaching
Responsible for workforce compliance with all safety regulations including all OSHA requirements.
Interact with subcontractors and field personnel regarding work completion, and resolve conflicts when necessary.
Responsible for vehicle maintenance and inventory control of all on-site equipment and tools.
Review and authorize daily work reports.
Field train and control/oversee the work of other Splicers when necessary
At times, may be required to perform work along with field personnel which may include:
Climb utility poles and ability to handle/use a 28 foot ladder.
Interprets prints in underground and aerial environment
Must be self-motivated and able to work within time constraints
Provides accurate daily timekeeping
Keeps track of production and hours on daily reports and completing 'as-built' maps for areas built.
Performs tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of cable
Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
Basic daily maintenance of provided vehicle: check fluids, clean and organize vehicle
Self-supervise all operations to ensure that all splicing operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
Safely operate and use bucket truck to complete daily construction assignments as needed (potentially climb poles)
Complete daily production reports, mark-up maps, keep track of work hours, complete \"as-built maps\" for areas built and track daily production
Reconcile all issued parts and materials on a daily basis to ensure accurate material usage counts.
Frequently work independently
Ability to use proper use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of assigned projects
Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations
Other splicing related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
Must have knowledge of installation of equipment such as nodes, amplifiers, passives
Knowledge of RF, forward and return signal
Must be detail oriented and proficient with paperwork
Ability to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams
Ability to distinguish colors
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Possess a valid driver’s license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position
Must be able to pass a DOT Physical to obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
Ability to work in emergencies, nights and weekends if needed including but not limited to holidays and extending days.
Ability to be on-call if required by customer emergency
Inner city traveling required between job sites (company truck)
Ability to work in all weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
OSP telecommunication construction experience; cable experience
Experience in splicing, balancing, and documenting CATV systems
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs as needed with or without assistance
Must be able to work in all weather conditions
