Hiring range: $21.03-$28.13 The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor process and procedures associated with accurate posting of cash payments and necessary adjustments to patient accounts.
Responsible for training new staff and on-going training and coaching of existing staff based on issues identified through routine monitoring on posting activity and patient account balances.
Responsible for working with the Human Resources Department in the hiring/interview/onboarding process. Determines, coordinates, and supervises daily staffing assignments and staffing levels. Evaluates assigned staff on performance expectations. Applies progressive discipline when appropriate. Participates in hiring and termination procedures.
Works collaboratively with other revenue cycle staff to identify and correct issues identified through the payment processes (i.e. proration rule correction and contracting issues)
Maintains a current awareness of third-party reimbursement regulations and contractual arrangements with HMOs and PPOs.
Monitors activities continually with collection agencies to assure proper handling of self-pay/bad-debt accounts.
Works effectively with auditors in locating various patient bills as required; demonstrates cooperation and responsiveness
Effectively utilizes and understands the departmental computer system in order to realize its optimal potential and to be able to evaluate and answer staff member questions regarding the mechanics of the system.
Education, Training & Experience:
High school diploma/GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of patient accounting experience required.
Minimum of 1 year of supervising staff members preferred.
