Summary You will serve as a GENERAL ENGINEER in the Test Engineering and Work Control Division of the Engineering and Planning Department of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. Responsibilities You will work as one of the principal assistants to the Chief Test Engineer (CTE) the principal contact point and technical specialist on non-nuclear system testing and/or work control of an assigned ship undergoing overhaul, repair or modernization. You will plan, develop and coordinate the preparation of a complete Test or Work Control Program for integrated ship systems work and testing. You will provide technical direction and supervision for the assignment of work to a group of employees in conducting the program. You will prepare detailed test procedures based on Naval Sea System Command (NAVSEA) derived specifications. You will plan and develop ancillary schedules for the hydrostatic, flush and operational testing which covers testing of systems and equipment, which is accomplished prior to operational testing. You will prepare prerequisite lists of all test documentation required. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer performing the installation, repair or maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical integrated submarine systems; analyzing test results, deriving pertinent conclusions and making recommendations. FOR GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer performing the installation, repair or maintenance of mechanical and/or electrical integrated submarine systems; reading and interpreting system diagrams, plans, or schematics; and executing written technical directions. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
