  Description

  The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey offers paid internships, providing students with the opportunity to work with experienced professionals on assignments critical to building, operating, and maintaining transportation and infrastructure assets in New York and New Jersey. Assignments include hands-on projects where interns quickly become part of the team and help the agency with its mission of keeping the region moving. The diversity of our businesses creates a variety of opportunities for students to gain exposure to the work of a first-class public agency.

  The Treasury department is looking for an intern to join their Director's Office!

  About the Treasury Department:

  The mission of the Treasury Department is to carry out essential financial and risk management functions which enable the Port Authority to fulfill its business objectives. Specifically, Treasury contributes to the long-term financial stability of the Agency through the developing and protecting its fixed and liquid assets, maintaining access to capital markets at a reasonable cost, managing liquid assets to achieve returns consistent with agreed upon risks, overseeing investing and financing programs consistent with the interests of all stakeholders, meeting financial obligations with the highest level of financial integrity, and developing and managing programs that provide financial protection in the event of damage to or loss of facilities or from injury to others.

  Responsibilities:

  Assist with incorporating best practices and innovative thinking within the Risk Financing and Cash, Credit and Collections teamsBenchmark contractual risk transfer requirements for tenants, lessees, contractors, etc.Review insurance requirements and language in existing agreements

  Qualifications:

  Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the Fall 2024 semester (August 2024 or beyond)Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.Excellent written and oral communication skillsInterest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey regionInterest in public service and/or transportationWillingness to learn

  Desired:

  Major in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Law, or a related disciplineExperience with contractual agreements, risk analysis, accounts receivable, process improvement, continuous improvement methodologies is desired

  Internship Details:

  The start date will be Thursday, May 30 with an orientation that will take place at 4 World Trade Center in Lower ManhattanThe internship will last 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 23This is a full-time internship (generally 5 days per week at 7.25 hours of work per day plus a 45-minute break)The format is expected to be hybrid, 2 days virtual and 3 days in-person at 4 World Trade Center in Lower ManhattanThe hourly salary range is $17.20 to $28.85 (the hourly salary is determined by internship type and school year)These details are subject to change
