This position can be based out of our St. Paul, MN office, or another NV5 office location, or full-time remote. As our Substation Engineer, in this role you will be a design engineer for new and ongoing substation projects. You will support multiple projects simultaneously given direction from a lead engineer or project manager. You will be working in small project teams to provide exceptional customer service and quality in deliverables to our clients. Responsibilities Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Prepare construction drawings, documents, calculations, and studies for medium and high voltage substation projects. Responsible for technical delivery of power delivery engineering projects or tasks. Prepare calculations, studies, and reports for substation and power systems projects meeting internal and client standards and requirements. Apply engineering design principles and practices including formulas. Work with small project teams to execute substation projects. Responsible for providing weekly updates to Sr. team leaders and/or project managers on milestone progress, estimated completion dates including percent completion of activities and supporting information to monitor project progress. Qualifications We are seeking the following qualifications: 3+ years of experience in the Substation/Power Delivery field. Experience with high voltage substation design (15kV through 500kV) activities such as preparing one-line diagrams, three line diagrams, AC/DC schematics and wiring diagrams, physical layouts, electrical elevations, plans (foundation, grounding, and raceway), and bills of materials including selection of non-standard equipment. Ability to interpret and apply standards including IEEE, IEC, NESC, and client standards. Experience with power system calculations (AC panel sizing, DC panel and battery sizing, Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing) is a plus. High voltage substation design experience is a plus. Knowledge of substation physical equipment is a plus. Knowledge of Protection and Controls design is a plus. B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. PE license is a plus. The pay range for this California position is $90,000 to $120,000 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
