The Pathways Internship Program allows students to joinVA in career positions that emphasize long-term training anddevelopment. This is a Student Trainee (Engineering) position located atthe Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Thisposition functions as a Student Trainee (Engineering) in the FacilitiesManagement Division, Project Section, and will receive on-the-jobexperience in the application of related skills or education. Experienceis designed to provide familiarity with the functions and operations ofthe Engineering Program. Major Duties: Assists the senior Engineers byperforming specific assignments which are phases of broader projects indesign and construction. Examines data and equipment performancespecifications for compliance with standards and construction contractdocuments. Determines if equipment performance data meets operationalfield parameters. Performs technical design review for all projectsdeveloped in-house or by other design agencies. Makes frequentinspections of work-sites with supervisor or senior engineers to ensurecompliance with contract requirements and participate in partial andfinal inspections of completed work. Ensures construction andpatient/public safety risks are appropriately managed during all phasesof design (site investigation) and construction. Attends andparticipates in briefings and meetings to advance knowledge ofengineering concepts and technical skills.
