Scholarship that advances the field, including research and publication, is required. The start date of this position is August 19, 2024. Qualifications Required/Essential Qualifications: Applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Math Education are required to have: 1. A PhD or Doctorate in Education or related field from a regionally accredited university completed by the time the contract begins. 2. An active commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering socially just, culturally responsive, and antiracist practices in higher education, or community settings. Experience and interest in fostering social justice and/or anti-racist pedagogies. 3. A strong and clearly articulated research agenda. Applicants for the position of Associate Professor must meet the requirements above and possess a distinguished record of academic achievement (scholarship, teaching, and service) that satisfies the criteria for Associate Professor status in the Department of Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated teaching success in higher education and student mentoring at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Two years of teaching experience in middle/high school settings. Research and teaching expertise with specific focus on Math Education. Experience with accreditation work in teacher education. Record of published scholarship and successful grant writing. Demonstrated success working effectively with culturally diverse students, colleagues, and communities, including intercultural communication skills, awareness of diverse cultural values and beliefs, and willingness to examine your own cultural biases. Strong experience, knowledge base and commitment to American Indian or other Indigenous people and communities through research, teaching, and/or service. Evidence of engaging in P-12 community partnerships. Published evidence of collaborative research. About the Department The Department of Education is one of fine departments in the College of Education and Human Service Professions and is the home of the Ruth Meyers Center for Indigenous Education. The Department offers 16 undergraduate teaching licensure programs. Licensure offerings include Early Childhood Education (to be launched in 2025); Integrated Elementary and Special Education; Secondary licensure options (Communication Arts and Literature, Earth and Space Science, Health, Life Science, Mathematics, Physical Science, Social Studies); K-12 Educations (Art, Music, Physical Education, World Languages).
