Primary Job Duties: The role aims to enlist a proficient Journeyman LevelPainter responsible for painting and conducting repairs on current campusbuildings, fixtures, and structures. Surface Conditioning (50% of Job):Prepares surfaces to be painted by using scrapers, sandpaper or sandingmachines, dusting, sizing, putty, caulking. Tapes & textures drywalland hangs various types of drywalls and matches existing textures, matchpaints, stains, mix lacquers and enamels for both repairs and remodels.
Application (35% of Job):Apply paint and other finishes to surfaces with brush, rollers, or sprayequipment. Lift/carry 5-gallon buckets of paint, Remove all types ofgraffiti without damage to the substrate or the environment. Lay drop cloths.Cleans, maintains brushes and other painting equipment.
Data Entry (5% of Job):Keeps inventory of paints, records of purchases, maintain and submittimely OneCard and SchoolDude records.
Supervises (5% of Job):Instruct, lead and supervise less-skilled persons.
Other duties as assigned (5% of Job):Includes but not limited to working with other trades, in carpentry. groundssnow removal, and Special event setup.
Decision Making:Schedules/plans work based on urgency and/or workload.Recommends whether to replace or repair equipment based on economics/cost.Chooses proper repair or replacement materials or component based on designand cost.Determines equipment replacement versus repair based on life cycle and uses.Complexity examples could include:
The door to an office scratched and need protected from the environment withpaint.An apartment unit has a water leaking from its bathroom ceiling causingdrywall damage that needs repaired and painted.Exterior surfaces have been vandalized with graffiti which needs to beremoved.
