Aboveall, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Structural Finite Element Engineer, we'll count on you to:Office:Supervise or conduct structural analyses including linear and nonlinear FEAmodeling, evaluations and designs; develop design options or recommendationsLead, assist with, or provide oversight for preparation of contractdocuments including drawings, specifications, design documentation andcriteria, and cost estimates.Lead design of various new and/or rehabilitation of hydraulic structures,including dams, spillways, gates, outlet works, diversionstructures, retaining walls, cofferdams, floodwalls, water conveyancestructures, foundationsPerform engineering assignments that may require critical thinking andcreativity to address unique structural elements that have limited or nospecific code-based guidanceCoordinate structural design with multi-disciplinary teamsWork independently as project manager and provide oversight and mentorship ofproject and junior staff. This role may include leadership and expansion ofHDR's structural engineering services including client and strategic projectdevelopment with Federal and State government agencies, water agencies andutilities, and power utilities.Review tasks undertaken by others in the group such that each design receivesa complete check of design assumptions, calculations, criteria, loadcases, code review and compliance with design standardsField (Optional):Perform inspections and structural assessments of existing structures andstructures under constructionLead industrial rope access inspections. Prepare inspection and designdocumentation including critical reportsPerform other duties as needed#LI-LA1QualificationsRequired QualificationsBS Degree in Civil or Structural EngineeringMinimum of 5 years' experiencePEMust possess strong interpersonal, speaking, and writing skills and anattitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-ownedculture is a mustPreferred QualificationsMasters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or MS in ProgressConcentration on Finite Element CoursesMinimum of 5 years experience in structural and seismic analyses, with aminimum of 3 years finite element modeling.Demonstrable experience with leading structural design projects, includinganalysis, reporting, and drawing productionDemonstrated knowledge of structural, seismic, inspection,remediation, and constructionField experience related to hydraulic structure construction, inspection,or related instrumentationStrong background in finite element modeling and knowledge of computer-baseddesign tools (such as SAP2000, ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, ADINA orequivalent. Meshing software such as Truegrid, Altair Hypermesh orequivalent).
