The successful candidate will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure, Facilities and Buildings Group (IF+B): a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects. As structural engineer, you will be an integral part of our expanding design group which encompasses architects and multi-disciplined engineers in the design and construction support for transportation projects, facilities, industrial buildings, and other infrastructure projects. We are seeking an individual who is passionate and self-motivated and who likes to work with clients and production teams to coordinate and deliver cohesive structural designs.

As a mid-level Structural Engineer at Kiewit, you will take on a more advanced role in the design, analysis, and implementation of structural engineering projects. You will contribute your expertise to ensure the successful delivery of projects, while also mentoring junior engineers and supporting their professional growth.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Location

This position is based out of Woodcliff Lake, NJ and typically requires less than 10 percent travel depending on project activity.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced structural design and analysis of mid-sized and large projects with minimal supervision.

• Apply a strong knowledge of building codes and structural behavior to perform advanced structural analysis.

• Utilize an understanding of construction practices to establish design and/or repair scope recommendations for structures of various constructions.

• Perform advanced structural calculations, modeling, and simulations to ensure designs meet regulatory standards and project specifications.

• Evaluate design drawings and documentation such as quality control reviews for the assurance of sound and constructable designs.

• Produce designs, plan production, building layout/profiles, specifications, and construction documents.

• Coordinate with other disciplines and engineers to ensure cohesive and innovative design solutions.

• Provide engineering services during construction in the form of reviewing submittals, requests for information (RFI’s) and field non-conformance reports (NCR’s).

• Conduct site visits and inspections and propose solutions to structural challenges in consultation with a senior structural engineer.

• Act as a mentor to junior engineers while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

• Willing to travel, as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program required.

• Must possess an active professional Engineering License with the ability to obtain license in other states. *(Company will pay for additional licenses)

• 8+ years Structural Engineering experience in design and analysis, and/or project engineering in facilities/buildings/structures with strong structural analysis skills.

• Broad background with various building system types (which may include but not limited to, steel, concrete, masonry, wood, roofing and building envelopes). Applicant should possess the desire and ability to work and a variety of different project types.

• Knowledge of national building and construction codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS, etc.)

• Experience with Design/Build projects desired, or experience working with multiple types of construction in some capacity (resident engineering) is a big plus

• Well versed in the use of structural analysis tools, such as; SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, RISA, and similar

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Supplementary field experience in addition to design experience including inspection and/or construction management.

• Well versed in BIM and CAD software including Revit, AutoCAD and similar.

• Experience in providing engineering services during the construction phase is highly desirable.

Base Compensation: $115,000/yr - $155,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
