Job DescriptionThe Structural Department is actively seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team of structural engineers with an interest in the design and construction of structures associated with water/wastewater treatment facilities, buildings related to tunnel projects, flood protection and resiliency, and infrastructure for aviation, power and marine projects.
Projects are typically very diverse and require a candidate that is creative, practical, solution oriented, and knowledgeable in structural engineering, construction procedures, material properties and structural design documents. Projects can range from the design of large infrastructure facilities with deep foundations, to the investigation and rehabilitation of an existing 100 year old water retaining structure, to the design of a multi-story building spanning over a highway tunnel. Most projects utilize concrete and steel however, many also incorporate FRP, stainless steel, aluminum, precast and masonry. Corrosion resistance and durability are critical design elements as many of our structures have a 100 year design life.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to act as the lead structural manager/engineer for small to medium sized projects, make most decisions independently, coordinate with other discipline leads, and delegate tasks to other young professionals. To foster continual learning, Senior Engineers will be available to provide design guidance and management training.
Responsibilities include:Overall project structural lead interfacing with other project discipline leads regarding coordination and integration of the structural system with respect to the overall goal of the project.Provide structural design knowledge to create innovative solutions to a wide-range of challenging projects.Delegate project tasks to young professionals and other support staff.Occasional site visits to oversee construction projects or to perform condition assessments.Write inspection reports or rehabilitation recommendation reports.Review and approval of drawings, specifications and calculations will be included in responsibilities.
Candidate SpecificationWe invite applications from candidates with the following experience:7+ years' experience in structural design and analysis of building, tanks and other structures.Lead and manage other structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.Design and analyze structures to meet project specific's and code requirements utilizing both hand calculations and finite element analysis (Robot preferred).Must be proficient in the use of building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.Ability to work in a 3D environment from drafting to analysis.Ability to clearly write and express difficult engineer principles in clear language.Experience in managing and delegating tasks to staff.Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, project management, and marketing.Professional license in NYS, NJ or the ability to obtaining a license is a requirement.BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering field.Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000Benefits: 401k, medical, dental and vision insurance, STD/LTD disability, holiday, vacation and sick time, parental leave and company paid life insurance
