Job Summary: TheStructural Engineer I plans and conducts work requiring judgment in theevaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard procedures andcriteria used in the design of building structures. A StructuralEngineer I is able to devise new approaches to problems encountered. AStructural Engineer I plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinatesdetailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project orin a total project of moderate scope. They perform work that involvesconventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complexfeatures, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability ofconventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Workrequires a broad knowledge of precedents and the principles andpractices of structural engineering.
