Primary Purpose and Functions:
Ensuring the availability of qualified products and services required to meet MegaFood’s business plan. Enacting sourcing strategies and managing supplier relationships. Identify and lead the selection and approval process for the appropriate raw material suppliers (and sites) to support company growth and innovation.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Primary liaison between MegaFood and suppliers regarding the sourcing of products and services.
Develop and maintain reliable and cost competitive sources of supply.
Plan and execute effective negotiation processes with suppliers.
Drive purchasing savings initiatives and demonstrate sound and logical sourcing principles to maximize results.
Keep continuously informed of worldwide commodity and supply markets relative to material availability, pricing and technology.
Lead the effort to identify and select strategic suppliers of materials and services.
Develop negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers.
Develop risk mitigation and business continuity strategies with key suppliers.
Lead market intelligence strategy and tools to profile, benchmark, research and assess supply markets.
Proactively seek new sources of products and technologies to support product innovation projects.
Maintains professional relationships with suppliers to maximize service and collaboration.
Ensures selected vendors are aligned with MegaFood quality expectations while adhering to timely delivery of products.
Implement and manage vendor agreements/ contracts – confidentiality disclosure agreement(s), scope of work agreement(s), request for pricing/information, supply/quality agreement(s) etc.
Actively manage and communicate forecasts to the key suppliers and manage capacity concerns.
Adhere to SOPs for the procurement of raw materials, packaging components, finished products, etc.
Works with cross-functional teams in the development of appropriate specifications for on time development of new raw materials and/or products.
Manage supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery performance, and total cost of ownership standards are met.
Conduct strategic business reviews with key suppliers at set frequencies.
Drive decisions regarding vendor and material selection having significant impact on product introduction, timeliness, and profitability.
Conduct supplier visits and audits; coordinate activities with supplier quality engineering group.
Mitigate risks to MegaFood’s supply chain by understanding developments and changes at suppliers and changes in technology that may cause supply disruption.
Assist in the training and development of other department personnel as required.
Assist the department manager in developing policies and procedures and overall implementation of department goals and objectives.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related duties as requested.
Attend conferences/workshops to advance skills, knowledge and relations within supply chain market
Required Qualifications:
BA/BS degree with a minimum of 5-7 years supply chain/sourcing experience.
Knowledge of cGMP manufacturing requirements, organic and non-gmo standard and quality testing specifications.
Demonstrated experience managing suppliers and negotiating supply agreements. Prior supply chain sourcing for natural food or dietary supplements preferred.
Sound knowledge of strategic sourcing with prior experience in supplier selection and approval.
ISM and/or APICS certification a plus.
Excellent communication and negotiations skills.
Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, Google Drive and ERP systems.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to travel as needed (Approximately 30%)
