ITW Residential & Renovation division is seeking an Strategic Sourcing Director to develop and execute on key supplier management and material fulfillment strategies, to position to achieve business growth and best-in-class customer service levels, through improved supply chain risk management and meaningful long-term material cost reduction.
This leader is responsible for develop a high-performing strategic sourcing and material planning team and ensuring the timely delivery of a quality product, in quantities that meet sales demand and at a cost that insures profitability and growth consistent with ITW objectives.
This position will report into the Global Operations Director for the division, with a dotted line reporting to the segment sourcing director. In addition, the incumbent will serve as a member of the division leadership team and participate in segment sourcing leadership discussions. The incumbent will lead a team of 4 direct reports (overall team size of 11+) across North America and Asia Pacific.
Core Responsibilities:
Build and manage an optimal supplier base and material planning processes, to execute Annual Plan, LRP and Strategic Sourcing strategies and initiatives, aligned with the division’s financial goals.
Develop and manage clear capacity and contingency models to assure proactive support of sales initiatives, New Product Development, Value Add and Value Engineering, and other strategic needs.Support and execute the Supplier Quality Management process, including supplier development, qualifications and performance standards
Identify major division-wide savings opportunities and develop action plans to achieve those goals.
Lead and implement cost reduction strategies that meet required objectives for key division-wide opportunities, existing and new products, to include identifying, developing, implementing alternative sources of supply.
Manage inventory levels based on Market Rate of Demand principles such that 100% customer service fill rates are achieved using vendor scorecard communication to assure supplier alignment. Direct supplier initiatives to reduce lead times and minimize inventory exposure in support of market-leading service levels.
Ensure the division sourcing processes and checks meet all legal and financial policy requirements.
Where appropriate, protect ITW’s long-term interest with formal contracts or supply agreements that meet all legal and financial policy requirements. Have a working knowledge of regional legal risks and commercial terms and conditions, applying those to contracts as required. Monitor contract performance and assess/report risks.
Actively engage in negotiations of contracts and/or facilitation of local negotiations with Divisional Sourcing teams. Utilize best practices to improve results of negotiations within the business.
Support growth objectives by integrating supplier feedback and technical capabilities with functional and Divisional leadership delivering enhancements to existing products, world class speed to market and contain best in class cost management.
Coach, mentor and develop talent within the team. Build a diverse, high performing, cohesive organization.
Maintain a close connection with the financial performance of all product lines within the division to include reporting supply-side risks and opportunities impacting the business on a regular basis. Create recommendations and action plans to mitigate risks and/or leverage opportunities within the business.
Collaborate with other divisions within the segment or enterprise to leverage ITW spend and supplier relationships to optimize results.
Expertise in domestic and offshore (Asia Pacific, Europe) sourcing and supply chain management of bulk componentry and packaged Consumer Products.
Depth of knowledge of global market conditions and the impact to the specific cost drivers of those products under his/her responsibility.
Strong knowledge of Demand Management and Replenishment principles and tools (Cognos, Kanban, etc.) and the ability to execute such principles.
Strong project management skills to facilitate and complete NPD objectives on schedule, achieving required results.
Proven negotiation skills, striving for best results related to cost, quality, and customer shipping requirements.
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Management experience leading teams, including a strong track record of building high performing teams
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to coordinate and communicate activities between internal and external stakeholders.
Good organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
Domestic/Offshore travel as needed or required (upto 30%)
Bachelors degree, preferably in business management, operations or supply chain
