The Desktop Support Technician II will provide fielded equipment administration for all activities (install, configure, operate, tune, and lifecycle replacement) to manage all fielded program equipment to users.
Responsibilities
Provide design, analysis, development, integration, documentation, testing, implementation, user support, and training to ensure network and/or encryption device connectivity at fielded units both CONUS and OCONUS.
Conduct system architecture engineering for fielded equipment.
Perform system modernization/lifecycle refresh of fielded systems to include researching, proof of concept, testing, installing deploying, and maintaining equipment.
Perform installations/upgrades/replacements, problem-solving, and testing to ensure the availability, validity, and reliability of fielded equipment; completing necessary documentation and follow-up with users.
Coordinate, perform, and document Site Surveys with host unit officials to discuss facility/office location(s), physical layout, site unique characteristics, network connectivity, architecture, personnel, and security requirements.
Work closely with User Support to provide seamless support to all users for all fielded equipment issues.
Perform system patches, upgrades, configuration, and troubleshooting to fielded equipment and peripheral devices using current Microsoft Windows versions, current Microsoft Windows Server versions, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory Structure and Administration.
Assist the Government with maintaining an accurate and current inventory of all fielded equipment for the shipment, receipt, and turn-in of Government equipment, and assisting the Government by accessing and utilizing the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) to manage assigned equipment on behalf of Equipment Custodian.
Develop training lesson plans for deployed hardware and conducting equipment operations training for site users.
Ensure Operating System and System Administrator training includes operating system initialization and basic configuration, operation, troubleshooting, upgrading, and security procedures for the hardware/equipment installed at each designated location.
Assist user sites with connectivity issues with DoD NIPRNet (Unclassified Internet Protocol Router Network) infrastructure devices. Able to work with DISA, DoD network operations, Air Force Network Operations, Navy Network Operations, and DOE (Department of Energy) network operations to troubleshoot and implement VPN (virtual private network) connectivity.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Must have 5+ years of related experience in Desktop Support
Must have experience with Microsoft Windows versions, current Microsoft Windows Server versions, Microsoft Exchange, and Active Directory Structure and Administration
Windows server certification is preferred
Baseline and Full Computing Environment Certifications for IAT-II or higher IAW DoD 8570.01-M and BBP 05-PR-M-0002 preferred
Possess and maintain a valid state operator's license
Secret clearance required
Top Secret clearance preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Windows server certification is preferred.
Ability to diagnose and correct hardware and/or driver problems, perform upgrades, and install new or replacement hardware.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Knowledge of web-based systems architecture, service-based architecture, and enterprise application architecture as well as experience managing expectations when balancing alternatives against business and financial constraints.
Advanced skills in problem-solving.
Good work ethic and active desire to learn.
Skillful time management and organizational skills to set and meet deadlines.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment to encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Ability to meet minimum clearance requirements.
