BAE Systems is hiring a Strategic Operations Manager III to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business in Louisville, KY. The Strategic Operations Leader will be responsible for aligning manufacturing resources and material with customer demand to drive operational excellence into manufacturing execution at the Louisville, KY operations facility. Drive the long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing aspects of production control, SIOP, material and inventory control, capital planning, operational analytics, factory flows, and BOM & routing creation. Define goals, improve technologies, and resolve problems in conjunction with managers of engineering, manufacturing, project management, and supply chain. Develop operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures.
This position will play a key role within the Operations team to use their knowledge of planning and inventory management, lean manufacturing concepts and techniques (e.g., Kanban), and ERP software to ensure customer orders are delivered accurately and according to schedule.Develop and execute production schedules for finished goods and component parts to drive operational excellence and maximize the use of resources (equipment, labor, material) while meeting customer order requirements.Develop and implement SIOP (Sales, Inventory, Operational Planning) focusing on processes to evaluate material and labor shortages in a timely manner and identify any bottlenecks.Develop and implement process to ensure BOM and manufacturing routings are updated and accurate.Establish proactive material management processes to drive excellence in inventory levels.Work with operational Value Streams to identify constraints and recommend capital to eliminate.
This position will work directly with the Operations Director to help manage a variety of organizational priorities and projects. Collaborate with stakeholders within Operations and other functional departments to help coordinate organizational goals on a day to day basis. This position will also take a lead role in managing select strategic operational initiatives.Work with the Operations Director to develop, prioritize, communicate, and manage operational strategies, priorities, and initiatives.Develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies, and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, and objectives.Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports.Interface with Program Directors and Program Managers to coordinate Operations activities to meet delivery schedules, achieve project cost targets, and assure quality of the delivered product.Work vertically and across the organization to help ensure coordination and alignment; identifying opportunities, challenges, and barriers to success.Interface with Supply Chain and other functional areas on matters affecting the status of operations.Review reports detailing product status, direct labor utilization, efficiency, scrap, rework, and defect data.Participate in the development and execution of plans to address unfavorable trends or variances.Participate in the review and analysis of capital budget requests and recommends necessary capital improvements for the facility.Ensure products and services are delivered on time and within cost in accordance with contract terms and conditions, while also meeting performance requirements.Support the implementation of new systems, procedures, and work instructions as well as special projects supporting specific manufacturing and customer service objectives.Serve as a leader and initiator in Safety.Ensure compliance with all company and OSHA regulated safety requirements/standards, environmental regulations, and ethical requirements.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing or other related and 12 years of work experience or equivalent experienceAbility to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security ClearanceExperience in Strategic Program/Operations Management within Manufacturing, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Excellence, and/or QualityExperience in People Management/Leadership with the ability to lead a diverse team encompassing Operations and ProductionExperience in Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement to advance our competitive advantageExperience in Defense, Government Contracting, or similar Industrial Manufacturing environment with the ability to operate within industry regulationsExperience in Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) implementation, optimization, and/or performance monitoring to mature technology, analytics, and reporting capabilitiesExperience in Advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros) to integrate with Power BI Data Visualization for KPIs and Performance Metrics to provide data-driven insights to support vital decision-makingExperience in Data Analytics and Reporting to convert data on historical usage, actual/forecasted demand, and scheduled/projected receipts into actionable information on material availability, projected inventory, and projected gaps in supplyAbility to review and compare data to identify inconsistencies and determine prioritiesAbility to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects concurrently; owning assignments and be fully accountable for their successAbility to align actions, behaviors, and conversations to support strategic initiatives; adapting to changing priorities, demands, and assignmentsAbility to effectively work in a team environment and influence cross functional teams Ability to exercise judgment with regard to resolution of problems and interaction with other departmentsStrong planning, scheduling, organizing, and problem solving skillsStrong computer application, data analysis, and reporting skillsStrong written and oral communication and presentation skills

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $143000 - $243100
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
