Job Overview:This is a dual role of STNA and Unit Coordinator and may perform the duties as listed for both roles during each shift as directed. While acting as an STNA, this position will provide direct patient care to Hospice of Cincinnati/Hamilton patients under the direction of a registered nurse. This position provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living including bathing, feeding, assistance with ambulation, etc. and the STNA will serves as provider of companionship and emotional support, even during times of crisis. This position is responsible for knowing safety policies and following approved procedures. When performing as a Unit Coordinator this position performs clerical duties as assigned, including accurate data entry into the electronic medical records. Must have interpersonal skill to communicate with respect and compassion to customers. This position also communicates information through various telecommunication devices and assists in coordinating patient flow.Job Requirements:2 years High School EducationAge 17 with work permitSuccessful completion of Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Training ProgramMulti-line phone skills, familiar with patient call systems and pagersPrevious experience with computer operationJob Responsibilities:Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN. Maintains competency of tasks in which the STNA is trained. Completes assigned tasks within required timeframe. Seeks clarification from the nurse when in doubt about how to proceed. Maintains proficient knowledge of computer applications specific to unit/job/ (i.e. maintaining census, accurate scanning of documents, accurate transcription of physician orders in facilities not yet live on TriHealth Connect). Is knowledgeable of the function/operation equipment specific to the role on the unit.Maintains a safe environment. Reports safety hazards to appropriate personnel. Completes safety event report as necessary. Complies with Infection Control policies. Demonstrates knowledge of safety/emergency policies and procedures and appropriately corrects any identified hazards. Places emergency calls timely as directed. Communicates appropriately and effectively with internal and external customers (i.e. staff, patients, families, other departments, etc.). Relays accurate and complete information.
