Since 1961, The Nature Conservancy has been working in New Hampshire to further our organization's conservation priorities. Together with partners, local landowners, and others, we have helped to protect nearly 300,000 acres of land and 680 miles of rivers and streams in the Granite State. The NH Stewardship Program is focused on four pillars; managing for climate resilience and adaptation, developing inclusive and equitable access, ensuring a high-quality standard of care for the lands we manage, and making sure we are committing our resources to the most important places. We currently manage 31 preserves totaling 29,200 acres, and steward over 100 conservation easements and deed restrictions totaling 44,850 acres. This position will consist of both remote and in-person work at any one of our three offices (located in Concord, Newmarket, and North Conway), as well as at our 31 preserves around the state. The option to work full-time in an office is also possible, should you not wish to work remotely on days when you're not in the field. By joining our New Hampshire team, you will become part of a group that is a force to be reckoned with, a force for nature, a force for people, and a force for our planet. Our team consists of a dedicated group who are leading the conservation effort on multiple fronts and who expertly bring strategy and action together. The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $57,500 - $61,000 for annual base salary. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHERThe Stewardship Coordinator will help advance the four Stewardship Program pillars listed above. They will provide support and leadership in advancing land management program functions, including field work on preserves within New Hampshire. Administrative duties will developing and maintaining systems for program records, files, and data, including GIS maps and data, and helping to update management plans. Fieldwork duties will include ecological monitoring, invasive species control, wildlife research, using and maintaining equipment, enforcing preserve policies and monitoring visitor use, performing trail, boundary, and sign maintenance, and maintaining cooperative relationships, including the with volunteer preserve stewards. Fieldwork will typically be carried out in partnership with other stewardship staff, including seasonal staff and volunteers. WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOUAre you looking for work you can believe in? This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing mission of conservation by working in an integral role on both side of conservation: behind the scenes (60%) and in the field (40%) - a key, hands-on role! Specific responsibilities include:Stewardship Program Support* Provide leadership with developing and maintaining systems for tracking program records and data, managing property taxes and current use filings, and volunteer administration. * Support GIS for stewardship staff. This includes management of a statewide mobile monitoring system, helping to maintain the TNC Lands dataset, and creation of maps. It also includes coordinating deployment of several tablets, as well as providing technical support to stewardship staff for a suite of ESRI apps (Fieldmaps, Dashboards, Survey123, ArcGIS Online).* Serve as the primary point of contact for general inquiries about the Stewardship Program ensuring timely follow-up and routing questions and concerns to the appropriate member of the team. * Help to ensure land management and other related records are tracked and stored in compliance with TNC policies and Standard Operating Procedures.* Assist with updating management plans, and other tasks, as needed.Fieldwork* Help to collect and maintain ecological monitoring data related to the program's climate resilient adaptive management projects, which currently include, pine barrens restoration and management, climate resilient forest management, salt marsh restoration and migration, floodplain forest restoration, and restoration of headwater streams. * Perform preserve maintenance tasks (maintain signs, maintain trails, mark boundaries, control invasive species (using hand tools and herbicides), either independently or with other staff. * Conduct annual monitoring of preserves and enter monitoring data. Work collaboratively with legal and land management teams to address problems as they arise on preserves (may include trespass, unauthorized vehicular use etc.). * Interact with preserve visitors by providing information about the preserves, promoting the work of the Conservancy, answering questions, and enforcing preserve policies.* Assist with organization and maintenance of land management equipment such as hand and power tools, chainsaws, brush saws, and coordinate maintenance for the work truck.* Support the program's fire management work in the Ossipee Pine Barrens * Occasionally lead and supervise volunteers and/or interns assisting with preserve maintenance activities. * Assist with other land management and science projects as needed. WHAT YOU'LL BRING* Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, natural resources management or related field and 3 years related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. * Experience coordinating administrative processes and projects, including experience developing systems and approaches for managing files and data.* Proficiency with ArcPro, ArcGIS Online, and experience with mobile technology (tablets and smartphones). Ability to create, manage, and interpret mapped information. * Attention to detail and excellent writing skills. * Experience with ecological principles and plant identification. * Experience operating and or repairing various types of equipment and machinery.* Requires ability to complete physical work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.* Requires valid driver's license and personal transportation.WHAT WE BRINGSince 1951, TNC has been doing work you can believe in.
