Opening in Fall 2023, Ridgeview is developing the Orthopedic Institute - a premiere destination for patients to access world-class orthopedic care. The Orthopedic Institute is a valued-based partnership between Ridgeview and Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO), and is the first dedicated orthopedic facility in Minnesota that is a partnership between an independent practice and a health system. It combines the world-class services of Ridgeview and TCO with groundbreaking technology in a state-of-the-art facility. The shared goals include, but are not limited to, achieving high quality in-patient care, improved outcomes and an exceptional patient experience. A new fifth floor - with 20 hospital beds and six operating rooms - is being added to the Two Twelve Medical Center building on Ridgeview's Chaska Campus to house the new Orthopedic Institute. Ridgeview will staff clinical and ancillary services to support the Orthopedic Institute's operations. TCO physicians will provide surgical services and care coordination. Purpose of Job This position is responsible for performing routine activities in the decontamination, reprocessing/sterilization of supplies, instrument trays, and equipment necessary for patient care. Job Functions Provides specialized experience and direct responsibility for providing clean and sterile medical/surgical supplies and equipment for use in all patient care areas in-house and for all off-site clinics. Utilizes appropriate techniques in preparation, packaging, and sterilization functions maintaining a basic knowledge of microbiological principles for SPD practice. Works to supply surgical services with supplies & equipment. Obtaining & assembles instruments, equipment, positioning devices, and supplies for procedures as indicated on physician's preference cards. Performs testing and documentation of sterilization function with appropriate graphs and indicators. Maintains an adequate supply of patient related equipment, renting as needed to meet the demand. Maintains an adequate supply of linen needed for daily usage in Surgical Services. Assists & performs turnover in the OR suites between cases. Assists in transportation of pre & postoperative patients. Assistants in staff and patient cares as directed. Utilizes effective communication skills in interpersonal relationships with co-workers and other members of the healthcare team. Participates in unit based Quality Improvement process. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Education/Work Experience High school graduate or equivalent Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions Ability to coordinate instrument processing with daily surgical schedule Ability to multitask Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in the English language and respond accordingly in order to complete job functions as mentioned above License/Certifications Current BLS Certification of at first opportunity after hire, not exceed 9 months.
