Position SummaryMichigan State University operates FRIB as a user facility for the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science (DOE-SC), supporting the mission of the DOE-SC Office of Nuclear Physics.
As one of 28 DOE-SC user facilities, FRIB provides researchers with one of the most advanced tools of modern science to study rare isotopes, or short-lived nuclei not normally found on Earth. FRIB hosts what is designed to be the most powerful heavy-ion accelerator, enabling scientists to make discoveries about the properties of rare isotopes, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental interactions, and applications for society, including in medicine, homeland security, and industry.
User facility operation is supported by the DOE-SC Office of Nuclear Physics as one of 28 DOE-SC user facilities. MSU's nuclear physics graduate program is a top-ranked program nationally, according to U.S. News & World Report..

Position Overview
Lead systems engineering tasks for major projects Support FMEAs and writing procedures, requirements, and interface documents Oversee and continuously improve the laboratory's Configuration Management Program Manage the change request system and other configuration control processes Assist in managing the laboratory's Functional Safety Program Review and edit hazard assessments, safety requirements specifications, and validation plans Serve as a subject matter expert in internal design and safety reviews Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classificationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required DegreeMasters -Systems Engineering or Electrical Engine
Minimum RequirementsMaster's degree in Systems Engineering or Electrical Engineering with at least three years of industry experience.Successful record of accomplishment in field of expertiseExperience with systems engineering, configuration management, or functional safetyDesired QualificationsFive years of experience performing systems engineering or engineering program managementWorking knowledge of electronic safety systems and IEC 61508 / IEC 61511Basic understanding of vacuum systems, power supplies, RF, cryogenic systems, PLC based controlsAble to obtain a Professional Engineer license in Michigan within two yearsRequired Application Materials<
