Like shopping at Trader Joe's? Then, maybe you'll love working with us. We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant who is searching to do what they'll love - general Accounting! Do you have experience in auditing sales and balance sheet reconciliations? Do you love food? If so, read on! We may have the role of a lifetime for you!

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, California.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for:

Auditing and posting weekly sales to the general ledger including working with IT to ensure all sales are accounted for.

Prepare general ledger entries, reconciliations for month-end close relating to lease accounting for over 560 stores (ASC 842, excess rent, prepaid cam and taxes), provide analysis on fluctuations from the month-over-month and year-over-year comparisons.

Prepare month end journal entries and account reconciliations for various accounts including prepaids, accruals, fixed assets and cash.

Review various expense accounts to categorize spend and provide explanations of large variances on month-over-month or year-over-year basis.

Perform Cash disbursement Store audits on a monthly basis to ensure disbursements are recorded appropriately.

Assist with fixed asset closing including invoice and expense review to determine if charges should be capitalized based on GAAP and Company policy perspective.

Working collaboratively with other departments.

The qualified candidate has:

A Bachelor's or higher degree required with a concentration in Accounting preferred.

Prior ASC 842 and monthly closing experience is highly desired but not required.

Proficient in Microsoft Applications.

Multi-unit retail and SAP working knowledge preferred.
