Description A growing company in the Non-Profit industry is looking for an efficient Staff Accountant to join them. Apply through Robert Half today! This company is located in the New York, New York region and is offering a dynamic, mulit-faceted long-term contract / temporary opportunity where effort is rewarded. In this role, the Staff Accountant holds responsibility for preparing monthly and year-end closings, fixed asset maintenance, journal entries, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, communicating with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and playing an active role in compliance.
What you get to do every day
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Journal entries experience preferred
Accounts Payable (AP) experience desired
Proficiency in bank reconciliations
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience required
Well-founded grasp of Daily Cash Receipts
General familiarity with month end closings
Intacct experience
Proven knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
The ideal candidate will be highly-skilled with exceptional analytical, quantitative and social skills
Skilled with ERP systems
Competent with spreadsheets and databases
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
