Robert Half currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join their growing team in the Wine industry. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. You will assist in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This role is very integrated as it plays a part in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Napa, California area, at a company where effort is rewarded.
Responsibilities
Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on
Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP
Maintain depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Perform month end close, journal entries, with minimum supervision
Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process, which includes monthly financial close workbook preparation
Manage intercompany billings, transactions, and reconciliation
Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Requirements
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Demonstrated ability in strong analytical, quantitative and social skills
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
Proficient in ERP systems
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Well-founded grasp of bank reconciliations
Comprehensive knowledge of journal entries
General familiarity with account reconciliation
Proven knowledge of account reconciliation
Microsoft Excel experience
Practical knowledge of month end closings
5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
