Description Robert Half is looking for an experienced, organized individual to take on the long-term contract / temporary role of Staff Accountant at a growing, dynamic company in the Non-Profit industry. As a Staff Accountant, you will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will have responsibility for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will support the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This position is very involved as it will produce Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Based in the New York, New York region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.
Key responsibilities
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - Recent and relevant accounting experience
Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines
ERP system experience
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Strong familiarity with HR budgeting
Month end closings experience required
NetSuite experience
Foundational knowledge in budgeting
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
