The Hotel offers luxurious amenities and culinary delights delivered by remarkable hospitality professionals. Job Description St. James Hotel is seeking a Banquet Captain to join the team. This role is responsible for organizing and supervising banquet servers, bartenders, and house people to ensure all banquet events are executed smoothly and ensure high quality guest service and 100% satisfaction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Execute and/or supervise the essential duties & responsibilities of a banquet staff. Ensure effectiveness of the staff through communications; coaching, counseling; monitoring and appraising job results; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies and procedures; and provide educational and development opportunities. Direct operation of department in manager's absence; Acting as an ambassador to client, guests, and vendors. Investigate and resolve service complaints to achieve high guest satisfaction and peak staff performance. Ensure all banquet spaces are clean and organized; develop, implement, and enforce daily, weekly, and monthly assigned projects. Mastery of SJH Point of Sale, Sales & Catering, Inventory Management programs; ring and post billing for events, stock requisition and inventory. Maintains staff by assisting in recruitment, selection, orientation, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure and legal work environment. Comply with all Health Code guidelines to guarantee we are handling anything consumed by our guests safely and properly. Coordinate activities with all departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. Qualifications Qualified candidates must have a Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and six months to one-year related experience/training in a premier banquet and conference facility; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Point of Sale, Inventory Management, Sales, Catering systems, and Supervisory experience is a plus. Candidates should have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet; Strong verbal, written, and communication skills with attention to detail and interpersonal relationships with guests and employees; Ability to problem solve and prioritize in a fast paced environment; Demonstrate ability to relate to all different types of people and willingness to serve the customers.
