As a substation engineer, you will lead or support utility and power substation projects and clients. This role offers the flexibility to work fully remote or to work directly with our experienced team in one of the following locations:Charlotte NC, Phoenix AZ, Roanoke, Va, Pittsburgh, PA, Chicago, IL, or  St. Louis, MOPending on qualification this could be a fully remote position.The growth and diversification of the Power Business Line is a top initiative, on both a regional and national scale. You will work with clients that include investor owned utilities, renewable energy developers, and large industrial clients.  This mix of clients offers our staff a variety of projects to be involved. From substations to wind farms, solar energy facilities, and battery storage facilities, our projects are as diversified as our clients.

　　You will have need to have experience supporting or leading various substation projects from 34.5kV up through 500kV.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to build effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders in the Power & Utility industry.

　　Responsibilities include:Prepare, provide guidance, or assist in preparing and developing the engineering deliverables for electric substation projects - including physical general arrangements, electrical one-line, detailed physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, equipment & construction specifications, and all associated electrical calculations and studies.Calculations and studies include power system studies on utility and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including: short circuit, load flow, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, grounding analysis and other related studies.Responsible for working closely with other engineering and design team members to coordinate overall design package and requirements.Other duties include developing technical specifications, performing substation conceptual layouts, providing direction and guidance to drafters and designers, directing the flow of drafting and designer duties, ensuring design schedules are met, including regularly providing project status updates to project engineer.Responsible for handling multiple projects and providing a detailed design package that complies with applicable substation engineering design standards and all safety codes.Education | Experience:Minimum QualificationsRequired: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; even better if you had a focus on power systems from an ABET accredited program.Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on power systems from an ABET accredited program.10+ years of relevant substation or general electrical T&D engineering experienceMust be a registered Professional Engineer (PE) or preparing to gain licensurePreferred:Experience in the energy industry or a consulting services environmentAutoCADCompany Overview:At Gannett Fleming, we believe in improving the lives of the people we serve.
