Location Description The Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania facility is 1,120,845 square feet and home to about 470 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits® and 9Lives®. This location has a cannery that produces wet dog food and there is also a Distribution Center on-site. Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, a municipal airport, a landmark Town Park with many acres of recreational activities, and has one of the largest and longest running fairs in the country. Responsibilities This position will support the quality and food safety expectations and systems of manufacturing locations for Post Consumer Brands Pet. Responsibilities includes Audits that verify CQFS, Federal, State and Local requirements. Support improvement and growth of Pet business focused on Quality and Food Safety, and Nutrition utilizing AFFCO guidance. LOCATION: This position will be based out of Bloomsburg, PA with travel to other locations - could be upto 50%. Job Activities Support day to day quality systems to drive results at pet manufacturing locations. Schedule and conduct annual corporate audits with Corporate Quality and Foos Safety (CQFS) -Pet team. Support Plant QFS In 3rd party (BRC)/Regulatory audits as needed. Support problem resolution to ensure gaps identified are addressed timely and effectively. Coordinate ATS (authorized temporary spec) reviews/approvals are completed for CQFS-Pet team. Seek to improve current processes to increase efficiency and improve Overall Quality. Ensure FG holds/dispositions are effectively coordinated with Ops/CQFS/Whse/3PL partners teams. Assist/Lead in the implementation and compliance of critical Food Safety projects. Support of R&D, TSO and QFS plant function of Canned Pet Food (Bloomsburg), LACF, FDA, and all regulatory functions. Support/QA technical expert in project teams with CQFS/R&D/Nutrition/Ops/Technical Services Organization/Legal/Regulatory Participate in cross-functional development meetings to resolve issues/drive continuous improvement. Proactively analyze consumer complaints data and assess trends, gaps and immediate concerns where applicable. Work with Pet R&D/Analytical experts and CQFS/Plant teams on enhancing nutritional testing/consistency. Develop and conduct training for internal and cross-functional teams as needed. Implement and maintain new systems/tools to strengthen internal quality systems. CQA technical expert/rep for Dry Pet, Wet Pet Improvement Charters and Microbial Management Improvement program. Lead/support other projects/priorities of the CQFS - Pet Director and CQFS VP and overall / Pet business. Support plants in quality incidents investigations to determine root cause and use CAPA tools to prevent recurrence. Build relationships with others in CQFS, operations, and cross functional partners. Provide guidance in the development of visual analytical tools for continuous improvement. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications Job Requirements Education Minimum 4-year college degree in a science discipline, preferably food science or food safety. Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) certification. British Retail Consortium (BRC) Practitioner or other GFSI equivalent. Thermal Process/Low Acid Canned Foods (LACF) experience preferred. Experience A minimum of 5 to 7 years’ experience in a Quality and Food Safety discipline, preferably with low moisture foods/Cannery. Thorough understanding and practical experience with the requirements in Title 21, Part 507 Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk Based Preventive Controls for Animal Foods”. Development, Implementation and monitoring of Quality and Food Safety Systems such as, but not limited to, GMP’s, Food Safety Plans, microbiological control programs, adverse events response, etc. Skills Must have advanced organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work. Results-oriented with strong attention to detail and meets deadlines. Good problem-solving skills with the emphasis on presenting solutions. A team player with strong interpersonal skills who demonstrates good judgment, initiative, and works with a sense of urgency. Excellent computer skills including the use of database systems are needed, as are excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to read, write and communicate in the English language. Travel Must be able to travel both within the United States up to 50% of the time. Job Complexity Relationships Internally work with R&D, Corporate and Plant Quality & Food Safety, Procurement, Supply Chain and others. Externally work with suppliers, 3PL Warehouses and contract manufacturers. Problem solving Assess needs and make recommendations addressing Quality & Food Safety compliance.
