As a RF Systems Engineer, you'll be responsible for simulating and modeling the terrestrial and orbital communication systems for Starlink and help define their architectures and specifications. You'll also support our certification efforts as a liaison with our regulatory teams and various governmental bodies and industry organizations.RESPONSIBILITIES:Simulate and model communication systemsWork with system architects, RF engineers, antenna engineers, modem/DSP, and ASIC engineers to partition functions between hardware and software domainsAssess feasibility of various designs in support of architecture definitionDeriving top level specifications for RF links and RF and antenna subsystemsCharacterize and analyze system performanceProvide technical support to regulatory, coordination, and market access teamsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline5+ years of research or development experience in the areas of RF and antennas1+ years of experience using one of the 3D EM simulation tools such as CST, HFSS, FEKO, SEMCAD, EMPro, TICRA or XFDTDPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering with emphasis in RF/microwave circuits or communication theoryExperience performing analysis and simulation of communication systemsThorough understanding of RF passive and active componentsExperience characterizing radio performance at microwave frequenciesKnowledge of digital communication systems, spread spectrum, single and multi-carrier techniques, modulation types such as PSK, APSK, QAMUnderstanding of electromagnetic propagation and antenna systemsExperience in Matlab, Python, C++ or equivalent tools for modeling and analyzing RF systemsKnowledge of RF transceiver architectures and digital communication theoryADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlinesCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:Pay range:RF Systems Engineer/Senior: $160,000.00 - $220,000.00/per yearYour actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
