About Sr. Research Program Coordinator

  We are seeking a Sr. Research Program Coordinator who will provide support to the Department of International Health and Bloomberg American Health Initiative at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health on research related to food systems, urban planning, food and nutrition policy, and local food and nutrition interventions including projects aiming to,

  Advance food equity and food security through multi-sectoral partnerships.

  Address structural determinants of nutrition health disparities.

  Advance food agency among populations at risk for food insecurity and diet related diseases such as diabetes.

  Understand the effects of policies to promote healthy food choices.

  Generate new models of collaborative governance and health equity-driven policymaking.

  The person in this position will work closely with the Principal Investigators to manage and provide support for several research studies. Depending on interest and availability there may be additional opportunities to engage in other aspects of research and dissemination as well.

  Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  Communicate with study team members across multiple sites and coordinate research team meetings.

  Assist with IRB submissions, including development and writing of protocols, consent forms, and other source materials.

  Program and maintain data collection instruments in Qualtrics.

  Hire, train, and oversee day-to-day work of research assistants involved in data collection, data entry and preparation.

  Meet regularly with the Principal Investigators to review data accuracy and overall study progress.

  Manage multiple datasets, create analytic data files, and conduct descriptive analyses.

  Report results of descriptive analyses in the forms of tables and graphs and communicate findings to the research team.

  Assist with research reporting and dissemination, including writing of progress reports, policy briefs, scientific manuscripts, and preparation of presentations for diverse audiences.

  Perform occasional administrative duties, including submission of procurement requests, coordination and maintenance of contracts and data use agreements, scheduling of meetings, and assistance formatting manuscripts in accordance with journal submission guidelines.

  Perform related work as required.

  Additional Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm for food systems, food and health equity, and food and nutrition policy issues.

  Understanding of basic concepts in food systems, urban planning, systems science, food or nutrition science.

  Ability to work well with other professionals with minimal supervision in a self-directed fashion.

  Minimum Qualifications

  Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  Three years related experience.

  Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Some experience in quantitative data analysis, including use of relevant statistical software such as Stata, SAS, R, ArcGIS, or similar.

  Basic understanding of qualitative methodology and analytic approaches including familiarity with qualitative data analysis software such as Atlas.ti or Nvivo.

  Proficiency in the use of common software applications, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.

  Starting Salary Range: Min $40,900 - Max $71,600 Annually ($55,140 targeted; Commensurate with experience)

  JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
