Senior Project Manager, UIC Construction, LLC is seeking a Senior Project Manager with extensive vertical construction experience for large remote Alaska construction projects. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, safety, quality, execution, control, and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals. Specific knowledge and experience running large (over $20 Million) projects in remote Alaska is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Essential Functions:
Lead the estimate, planning and implementation of multiple projects.
Mentor other staff as needed.
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and sub-contractors.
Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Define project tasks and resource requirements.
Manage project budget.
Manage project resource allocations.
Plan and schedule project timelines.
Track project deliverables using appropriate tools.
Provide direction and support to project team.
Communicate project safety and quality expectations to project personnel.
Monitor and report on progress of projects to appropriate parties.
Present reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs.
Project evaluations and assessment of results.
Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, or other regulations.
Must be willing travel to remote locations for extended periods of time.
As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening and have a valid Drivers License and proof of insurance.
Must be able to pass a background check for access to Federal Installations, if needed.
Provide leadership and education in the UIC safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices on all projects, activities, and operations.
Complete contract closures and ensure formal acceptance of project deliverables.
Develop and execute action plans to address cost overruns, delays, or scope of work changes Knowledge and Critical
Skills/Expertise:
The applicant must be a seasoned professional with a desire to produce quality products while strengthening Owner, Architect, and Subcontractor relationships.
Excellent planning and organizing skills.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Execute the project according to the project plan.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ensure that project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
Skills such as CPM Scheduling, Time Management, Quality Control, Cost Control, Submittal review, Purchase Orders, Change Orders, and Subcontracts.
Computer literacy is critical including advanced understanding of Excel, Word, Power Point, and Oracle P6 with the ability to learn new programs.
Must be able to read and interpret engineering, architectural, other constructions drawings, and specifications.
Implementation of corporate safety program and applicable safety regulations.
Interpretation of building codes and standards.
Implement and complete quality and inspections procedures.
Excellent mathematical skills are required with the ability to perform quantity and material takeoffs from construction documents.
Ability to complete project financial projections and interpret project costs is essential.
Ability to be flexible and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, professional presentation and cultural awareness.
Responsibilities
Required Experience:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
Minimum of 10 years within the construction industry as a construction project manager.
Experience overseeing multiple, diverse projects.
Record of successfully managing projects over $20 Million in value.
Thorough knowledge of construction materials and practices.
Extensive knowledge of OSHA construction regulations.
Extensive knowledge of remote Alaska construction projects.
PREFERRED:
Experience with federal government/military projects.
Experience with Alaska Department of Transportation.
Experience with Alaska State and local agencies.
Alaska Native/Native American hiring preference applies.
Physical Demands:
Position is that of a sedentary nature.
Must be able to use standard office equipment.
Must be able to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds
Sitting at a computer for long periods of time.
Occasional travel to project sites. Project sites may be located in Lower 48 States, Pacific Islands, Remote Alaska, or Overseas. Environmental Conditions:
Initial work is in an office environment, but assignments may be at an active construction site.
Work station located inside an office building or mobile office trailer.
Non-smoking office.
Will be required to visit work activity areas.
Noise is of a moderate level.
May be exposed to heat/cold.
