　　Amazon Shipping is our externalized business providing small parcel transportation services to sellers and shippers. Amazon Shipping leverages many of the above foundational systems together with operations capabilities to pick up packages from shipper warehouses and inject them into the AFN outbound transportation network to provide an end-to-end parcel delivery product we can sell.

　　The Sr. PE in this space will develop deep understanding of Amazon’s end-to-end fulfilment and transportation operations in order to support small-parcel transportation for all Amazon marketplaces, its subsidiaries, merchants and off-Amazon shippers.

　　This role will need to understand not only how a large set of technical services within Carrier Integration Services (CIS) and Amazon Shipping work together, but also how they interface and enable the adjacent functions, capabilities and programs across First Mile, Middle Mile and Last Mile as we transition to being an end-to-end carrier.

　　The Sr. PE will establish the strategy and execution plan to achieve convergence of multiple legacy systems in the carrier space, gracefully manage this transition while both legacy and new systems coexist in production, and strike the right balance between feature velocity and not blocking business launches yet also avoiding accrual of technical debt and throwaway work.

　　To do this effectively requires setting a strategy that provides value in both the near and long-term, and aligning 5 to 6 VP stakeholders on the vision and plan. The Sr. PE must possess a broad and deep understanding of the transportation architecture and operations, and create scalable solutions to support heterogeneous functions at scale, such as FC package labeling and sorting, sort center processing, line haul, air and last mile delivery as well as an ever-growing number of programs (e.g., Sub-Same Day, AmazonDay, Roar, Pharmacy) and advanced capabilities (disruption management, replanning, problem solve, Redirect to Locker).

　　The Sr. PE will need to understand not just the technical and product capabilities but the nuances of the businesses they are supporting, and helps to understand and balance conflicting stakeholder objectives, while simultaneously building trust and demonstrating empathy with their customers’ needs

　　Key job responsibilities

　　You lead the definition, design, architecture quality, implementation, and delivery of the most advanced, most difficult, most cross-cutting, and/or most ambiguous challenges spanning across ATS. You may own one or more critical components.

　　You ensure that the teams within ATS and teams in related organizations are aligned to a coherent technical vision and delivering systems that fit well together.

　　You exert influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness. You hold peers and teams to a high bar.

　　You are considered to be an authority on technical issues by both the technical and business community and are frequently consulted for making difficult trade-off decisions. 　　Basic Qualifications

　　• 10+ years of professional software development experience

　　• 8+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C+• 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　• Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related field

　　• 2+ years hands-on experience as a senior Principal Engineer leading multiple software engineering

　　• Experience shipping successful large-scale supply chain projects

　　• Experience partnering with Research Science or Machine Learning experts to drive optimizations using the latest techniques.
