This role’s primary responsibility will be overseeing the managers over the day-to-day general accounting functions, including intercompany, accruals, fixed assets, and royalties. This role works closely with the GSS leader and Global GL Accounting Lead to define, measure, implement, and improve necessary process changes across the R2R process.
Specific Responsibilities:
Record-to-Report
Manage the monthly close process for assigned functional areas interfacing with the global GL team regarding sub-ledger reconciliations and other corrections
Lead overall General Ledger resources for the delivery of quality services in accordance with SLAs and BU requirements
Oversee assigned functional areas and work with Leads to manage and monitor end-to-end processes
Supervise work assignments and evaluate staff performance on these tasks; Ensure that staff have necessary training and education to perform tasks
Review and approve complex financial transactions, investigate and resolve issues, and perform analysis that is used in the compilation of statutory and regulatory financial reports required to be filed in the various jurisdictions in which the company operates
Utilize knowledge of accounting and corporate practices while working closely with the Corporate Technical Accounting team to verify that the G/L is correct and resolve any issues
Regularly review and test adequacy of internal controls, policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with internal Corporate policies and GAAP
Oversee escalations from internal customers and response to customer inquiries, driving timely and effective issue and error resolution
Translate GSS vision, values and business goals into team and individual goals
Recommend, evaluate, and test new technology or processes; initiate and implement improvements as needed
Develop and deliver functional metrics and report on trends that reflect performance against SLAs; work with Leads to ensure that they are implemented
Identify and recommend necessary changes in financial policies and procedures to optimize performance
Ensure that proposed changes are in compliance with GAAP and are properly documented for regulatory purposes
Work Location:Philippines, Makati City Qualifications: Other Key Requirements of the Successful Candidate:
10 years or more of accounting experience in a global company
5+ years of leadership experience in the general accounting function or in a similar environment
BA or BS in Accounting
CPA required, MBA preferred
In-depth knowledge of accounting systems and applications and tax management software applications
Experience leading teams in a Shared Services environment required
Experience in process improvement activities
Public accounting experience is a plus
Strong computer skills: proficiency in Excel
Experience using SharePoint is a plus
