About Sr. Healthcare Construction Administrator

  We are currently seeking a Sr Healthcare Construction Specialist/Sr Project Architect to join our team. As a Sr Healthcare Construction Specialist/Sr. Project Architect, you are responsible for leading the team’s CA efforts on multiple small and large scale construction projects, including day-to-day management of the team, in-field issue resolution, and participation / presence at the jobsite. This position may or may not require onsite stationing, but does require frequent travel to jobsite locations for meetings and field reviews. This position requires strong understanding and experience in healthcare project construction, including the development and technical content of HOK documents, coordination of disciplines and for the supervision of all staff producing documents. You will also be responsible, in conjunction with the Project Architect(s) for developing responses to and representing HOK on RFIs, submittal reviews, and other technical matters to the client, contractor, and authorities having jurisdiction. In partnership with the Sr Project Manager and Sr Project Designer, you are accountable for project leadership, team communication, and financial performance.

  Ensures that design intent is maintained throughout the construction administration phase and is coordinated with responses to RFIs, submittals, and in-field issue resolution.

  Observe and document the construction process of construction projects to which you are assigned.

  Coordinating and participating in initial review and final responses to RFI's and Shop Drawings

  Assist Owner/Project Manager in substantial completion review and approval, including punch list reviews and resolution

  Develop Punch List documentation in conjunction with other team members.

  Lead reviews and processing Change Orders, Supplemental Instructions, and Potential Change Orders

  Participate in on-site observations and in-field meetings of construction issues as required and develop Field Reports for each site visit as required.

  Assist in monitoring project schedules and budgets.

  Interface with contractors and construction managers to lead entirety of construction administration process, including managing contractor requests and solutions with the design team and consultant contract requirements.

  Assist in Quality Control of construction documents

  Assist with close-out documents

  Coordinate turning contractor's as-builts into Record Documents (if required)

  Review design budget estimates for coordination with RFI and submittal reviews.

  Responsible for technical resolution and coordination for projects under construction, in conjunction with the project design team.

  Fosters and maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with the Project Leadership Team.

  Responsible for communication with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provides support as necessary.

  Ensures that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control and best practice standards.

  Supervises preparation of technical drawings by the design and consultant team.

  Performs as team leader in the construction phase.

  Mentors and directs the work of less experienced staff, participates in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.

  Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.

  Fosters a commitment to external and internal client service.

  Client Interface

  Works on developing a positive relationship of trust with client and contractor Leadership.

  Regularly communicates with client representative to verify RFI and submittal responses that require client input as required.

  Teamwork

  Receives project direction from the Principal in Charge and Technical direction from the RBU Technical Principal.

  Coordinates use and tracks shared electronic documentation and files with project team, clients and consultants.

  Assists in planning and conducting work making minor adaptations and modifications to the contract documents required.

  Meets with municipal building department and other governing agency officials to coordinate approvals or variances with the support of the Project Architect or consultant leaders.

  Writes reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.

  Provides technical support and project communications to team as required.

  Located on-site (if required), attends field reviews and project meetings. Prepares and coordinates the review of contractor’s schedules, submission of shop drawings and samples.

  Assists the Specification Writer in product research, consulting with manufacturers, evaluating and selecting project related materials.

  Involved with specification set-up and drawing coordination, research and appropriate use of HOK Standards if applicable.

  Participates in team meetings to help resolve project issues, coordination with other disciplines, schedule adherence, technical issues.

  Participates in review of project costs and budgets, adherence to schedule.

  Business Development

  May participate in business development meetings with team leaders to target specified project, client or market opportunities.Required Skills

  Strong knowledge of healthcare design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness, including construction processes, procedures, and experience in-field

  Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems with a specific focus on healthcare requirements, design, and issues.

  Advanced knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines.

  Thorough knowledge of buildingSMART, Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IDP). Knowledge and experience with construction delivery methods, including but not limited to design-bid-build, design-assist, IPD, design-build, and construction manager at risk.

  Advanced knowledge of QA/QC process.

  Advanced knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.

  Proficiency in AutoCAD/Revit preferred.

  Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.

  Ability to lead teams and work effectively with other project leaders.

  Ability to effectively meet deadlines.

  Ability to work with contractors to resolve in-field issues and to push back on requests and work that is not in contract.

  Required Experience

  Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required. Master’s degree preferred.

  Healthcare experience required.

  15 plus years’ experience.

  Licensed Architect in FL with current registrationrequired. .

  FL Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) experience preferred.

  NCARB registration preferred.

  LEED credential required within 6 months of employment.
