　　R&D Lab Technician III (Plastic/Resins/Preforms/bottles/HDPE/PET)

　　This Position is based at Niagara's Lab in Ontario, CA.

　　The R&D Technician III is responsible for carrying out laboratory projects, data collection and analysis with limited supervision from Engineering. The R&D Technician III works closely with Packaging & Design Engineers in support of new projects and testing development. The R&D Technician III is able to initiate work independently based on assigned test plans and schedules.

　　Essential Functions

　　Provides recommendations and insights relevant to testing protocols and methods.

　　Summarizes and makes comparisons to testing protocols and methods

　　Determines appropriate level of quality upon receiving testing specimen(s).

　　Support PKG on new design and prototype fabrication.

　　Inspect bottles, preforms and closures for quality assessment prior to any packaging qualifications .

　　Perform common units of measurements: length, weight, volume, etc.

　　Reports discrepancies in Lean Six Sigma 5(S) concepts.

　　Independently supports R&D on new design and prototype fabrication.

　　Ability to develop SOP’s that are comprehendible to team members.

　　Perform comprehensive testing on resin, raw materials (label & shrink film), preforms, bottles, and closures for performance and dimensional validation.

　　Create and distribute comprehensive lab reports to leadership.

　　Assists in developing design of experiment (DOE) for root-cause analysis.

　　Research and provide recommendations on lab equipment.

　　Maintain an organized and functional lab area and storage-keeping for data and samples that are easily accessible.

　　Proficient knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

　　Provide lab safety training for new team members and visitors.

　　The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds.

　　Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.

　　Minimum Qualifications:

　　4 Years – Experience in Laboratory Research environment

　　4 Years – Experience in Packaging New Product Development or other related Packaging Technology fields

　　Preferred Qualifications:

　　6 Years– Experience in Laboratory Research environment

　　6 Years – Experience in Packaging New Product Development or other related Packaging Technology fields

　　2 Years – Experience managing people/projects

　　*experience may include a combination of work experience and education

　　Minimum Required:

　　High School Diploma

　　Preferred:

　　Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Technology, or Packaging Science, or Chemistry fields
