This Opportunity
WSP USA is initiating a search for a Sr Geologist Consultant in our Rancho Cordova, CA office! This person will provide environmental consulting services in support of public and private clientele. This position requires an individual with effective communication skills as significant client, agency, public, and team interactions are expected. Candidates should be self-motivated and able to work on projects with variable complexity with the desire and ability to mentor and build a strong support team. This position includes both office and field work on project sites in and out of California.
Your Impact
Perform field work: observations and data collection involving soil boreholes, test trench excavations, groundwater monitoring well installations; collecting soil, groundwater, surface water, and sediment samples; and documenting field activities.
Field activities may include oversight of remediation subcontractors during remediation activities.
Perform standard or routine calculations, input data into and/or run standard or, in some cases, advanced computer programs under supervision.
Recognize and identify discrepancies in results obtained in work assignments and follow up with senior personnel to resolve these situations.
May be responsible for preparing complete drafts of simple, non-complex technical reports under the supervision of senior scientists.
Manage tasks and projects of varying size and complexity.
Under supervision of the project manager or senior staff, represent WSP USA and interact in a professional manner with clients, regulators, and subcontractor representatives while on field assignments.
Understands and applies company, client, and site Health and Safety standards.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, or closely related discipline.
5 to 7 years of experience working as a Geologist. experience in fieldwork
40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification required
Must be a self-starter, team oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office
Strong work ethic with flexibility to work outside normal business hours, as required; field activities may require working in unfavorable weather condition or hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions
Must pass physical, background check, and must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (Motor Vehicle Safety) policy
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree is preferred.
Project management experience/training
GIT Certification or PG licensure
Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training
Familiarity with federal projects and CERCLA (Superfund) regulations and processes

Compensation
Expected Salary (California): $80,700- $117,570
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
