　　Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

　　Have you ever wanted to become involved in the global rollout of satellite earth stations for a high-performance satellite constellation? We are looking for an experienced Satellite Communications ground engineer to join Project Kuiper's ground gateway implementation team. You will lead efforts to design, deploy and commission high performance ground gateways, collaborate with subject matter experts to develop highly efficient gateway deployment processes and mechanisms, and be the on-site team lead for installation of Kuiper gateway terminals. Kuiper ground gateways enable our low-latency, high-speed broadband satellite communication constellation allowing Amazon to serve un-served and under-served communities around the world.

　　Key job responsibilities

　　In this role, you will:

　　Lead teams performing on-site ground terminal installations and commissioning up at hundreds of sites globally.

　　Deliver operational sites to the Kuiper Operations Team, including physical, network, RF, calibration and site acceptance.

　　Support site troubleshooting and maintenance to provide an unparalleled Customer experience.

　　Engage with industry leading partners to execute our installation strategy.

　　Develop installation processes, mechanisms, and standard operating procedures supporting terminal installation at scale.

　　Design system test and verification processes and document in at-scale mechanisms.

　　Manage tactical interactions with partners to ensure milestones, deliverables, and technical artifacts are technically compliant with project objectives and programmatic requirements.

　　Work with stakeholder teams to deliver terminals in sync with ground implementation goals.

　　Develop of team training plans and materials.

　　Communicate regularly with senior management on status, risks and change control.

　　Relentlessly simplify and innovate to solve challenging site installation and integration problems.

　　Own our efforts in the APAC region, potentially growing and leading our team in the region.

　　A day in the life

　　As a Gateway Commissioning Engineer, you will provide both engineering and on-site leadership to teams performing installation of our ground gateway systems. You will travel extensively and be responsible for the installation of each site and direct the work of other team members at sites. You will also be the on-site engineer for performance of site configuration and acceptance testing. These systems provide mission critical communications with Kuiper satellites. Ground terminals include state of art tracking antennas, modems, and innovative supporting systems.

　　About the team

　　The Ground Systems team is responsible for the architecture, design, build, and installation of Kuiper’s Ground and TT&C Gateways. Our Ground Gateways enable high data rate, low latency communications between Kuiper points of presence and our Low Earth Orbit Satellite constellation. The team works closely with Ground Infrastructure Services, Networks, Regulatory, Payload Test, and RF Systems teams to ensure Kuiper provides a seamless customer experience.

　　Basic Qualifications

　　5+ years experience working in satellite communications ground systems and operations

　　3+ years of work experience in design and commission of radio/mobile telecommunications/RAN installations or SATCOM earth stations.

　　2+ years of network integration experience in troubleshooting and on-site support.

　　Bachelor's degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience

　　Preferred Qualifications

　　Experience leading projects among cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating delivery schedules.

　　Experience with satellite communications earth stations or network development, deployment, and operation

　　Experience leading globally located earth station projects

　　Ka-band experience as related to earth/ground station infrastructure

　　Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a highly motivated team who insists on the highest standards and deliver systems which delight customers

　　Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers

　　Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint)

　　Excellent technical, problem-solving and communication skills

　　LEO and/or MEO satellite systems experience.

　　Expertise with program management tools (Smartsheet, Confluence, JIRA).
