  SUMMARY OF DUTIES:This position is responsible for developing and updating Amtrak's current electrification standards and specifications, coordinating hardware with fabricators, suppliers, and/or vendors, and updating Amtrak's Material Management System to support Division construction services personnel.

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Review engineering designs prepared by outside consultants for projects to be constructed on Amtrak property on behalf of outside third parties to ensure compliance with industry and Amtrak standards.* Provide technical expertise to other departments and make engineering decisions for Division Engineers and their staffs.* Lead the development of the new electrical standards and develop prototype catenary equipment with manufacturers for use on the 25 Hz system and the 60 Hz system.* Evaluate existing standards and specifications to identify areas for improvement or updates to align with industry advancements.* Develop and update Amtrak's electrification standards to address project requirements and resolve any construction issues for Division, SOGR, and Capital Construction projects.* Coordinate with Procurement to update Amtrak's electrification cut sheets, preferred fabricators/vendors, standard drawings, and specifications to aid in the acquisition of hardware and materials.* Coordinate with Division leadership and personnel to address hardware related inquiries, provide clarifications, and resolve conflicts related to standards interpretation or implementation.* Conduct regular reviews and updates of existing standards to reflect emerging technologies, fabricator/vendor changes, industry best practices, and regulatory changes.* Review and approve material submissions, alternative hardware substitution, and non-standard electrification assemblies to ensure operational maintenance, fit up, and feasibility.* Execute and/or manage in-house and consultant catenary related design projects.* Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, fabricator/vendor changes, and best practices related to the standards domain.* Developing and updating long lead time material list to allow for proper planning.* Represent the department in relevant industry forums, conferences, and committees related to Amtrak's electrification standards and design approach.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related fields.* Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, and project management.* Demonstrated experience in design of catenary, and single line transmission lines.* Demonstrated management experience in a matrix organization.* Demonstrated experience in construction related quality control and assurance.

  MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* 5-7 years of related experience in standard development or catenary design.* Must have excellent oral and written communication skills* Profic ent in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, and AutoCAD.* Must be computer literate and capable of writing computer programs or spreadsheet programs to streamline processes.* Proficient or capable of learning Primavera, Work Element Explorer

  PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or related field.* Extensive experience in design of OCS and Transmission systems and other Electric Traction facilities* Extensive experience in developing standards and coordinating with electrification vendors.* Experience working with common quality standards and frameworks (ie. ISO 9000, Lean, Six Sigma, etc...)* Previous experience coordinating with vendors and assessment of hardware fit up.

  WORK ENVIRONMENT:* Based in Philadelphia, PA* Travel Requirements: Up to 25%* Office and field work environments

  PAY TRANSPARENCY:The salary/hourly range is$103, 000 - $134,460.Payis based on several factors including butnot limited to education, work experience,certifications,internal equity,etc. Depending on anemployee's assigned worksite orlocation, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to beapplied to the employee's basesalary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and payprograms to recognize and rewardour employees, including a short-term incentive bonusbased upon factors such as individualand company performance that is commensurate withthe level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
