GENERAL FUNCTION:
The Senior Corporate Communications Specialist will promote Fifth Third Bank’s strategy and leadership and protect and defend the Bank’s reputation . This individual will focus on creating, writing, editing and distributing clear, compelling, consistent, and accurate external and internal communications. The Senior Specialist reports directly to the Head of Corporate Communications.
Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive communication projects from inception to completion.
Write strategic communications material that connects to the Bank’s priorities and culture .
Communicate clearly, consistently and accurately across a variety of channels.
Edit copy for consistency, clarity, accuracy, grammar, style and effectiveness. Elevate quality of others' writing to tell effective stories with edits that make copy tighter, stronger, more compelling.
Understand and apply style guidelines as defined by the Associated Press and Fifth Third Bank in our Corporate Stylebook.
Provide communications guidance, execution support and project management to multiple stakeholders across Corporate Communications and the Bank .
Write communication materials as assigned and contribute proactive ideas to further improve internal and external communications. Have a passion for great writing and share that passion and expertise with the team.
Provide support to proactive and reactive media and public relations opportunities across the team to amplify Bank communications.
Provide research and writing support for various communications deliverables and channels, including but not limited to internal town hall meetings, external speaking engagements, media briefings, press releases, talking points, social media posts.
Review and analyze metrics/data to discover trends and make informed recommendations.
Build and maintain cross-functional relationships across the company.
Continually integrate new technology and best practices to increase impact and efficiency.
Responsible for building and maintaining budget reporting and logistics, such as processing invoices and expenses, gathering information and computing statistical reporting to keep the department budget on track.
Serve as point person for select administrative responsibilities, such as updating department trackers and calendars, managing logistics for award submissions, and processes invoices and expenses to keep the department budget on track.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Journalism Public Relations, Marketing or a related field .
Experience in banking and/or financial services strongly preferred.
Five years’ communications experience.
Excellent attention to detail, along with superb writing and editing skills for original content as well as rewriting and optimizing content. Strong command of grammar and AP style.
Ability to deliver against tight deadlines when they arise, resolve issues, and propose solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Effective writing skills.
Superb project management skills. Exceptional at multi-tasking and prioritizing.
Highly flexible; able to quickly respond to changing or unanticipated needs and mobilize cross-functional teams accordingly.
Strategic problem-solving skills; Ability to look around corners to identify potential obstacles and design thoughtful, creative solutions.
Innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external role-players.
Ability to bring order to chaos and get stuff done. Seek out constant improvement.
Strong intellectual ability and presence that earns the respect and attention of key internal partners, balanced with a sense of humor.
